Just a brief note: I am focusing on getting BuddyPress 1.3 to beta / shipped before I plan to switch back to Achievements. The goal is to re-engineer it to the very high standards that the new bbPress plugin has.
This will let me change the requirement on BuddyPress; if BuddyPress is present, you’ll see added BuddyPress-specific versions in wp-admin, otherwise you won’t.
Yes, you read that — the next major release of Achievements won’t require BuddyPress. Boom!
haha I love the Boom! at the end
- keep up the good work man I love the achievements feature. I’m a huge fan of squidoo and its my dream to have something similar on my site one day.
Awesome!
Is there a rough ETA on 1.3 Paul?
Best place to ask about BuddyPress 1.3 is on the buddypress.org forums. We’re hoping for a beta this month.
Thought I’d go straight to the horses mouth!
Can’t wait.

I am terrified of doing the upgrade to 1.3 on my busy, duct-taped-together community site, but I’m looking forward to the new Achievements app, because it features prominently on the site.
Thank you for all of hard work on Buddypress and Achievements. This is great news Paul.
Yeah! I have been wanting this for awhile! I can’t wait for the WP version!

Wonderful news, i’ve been waiting for this a long time.
I’m absolutely blown away by the last version and am really looking forward to the update. You’ve done a great job.
Do you think it will be possible to allow users to gain awards/points/acheivements for “checking into” a particular page? Perhaps via putting a “check in” button on a page. This way, users are rewarded for visiting certain content on your site?
Good luck with all your projects, you seem to be very busy at the moment!
Kev
Yep, but not sure it will be an out-of-the-box feature. Will keep it in mind, though — thanks
This would be handy for encouraging members to read your Rules page and stuff like that, too. Good idea.
I love the plugin, I just had one question. Would it be possible to reward users for signing up, but give those points to a group. Then the leaderboard would show which group has the most points (users) …
This is a big feature I wish to bring to Achievements; it may not be in the next release, but hopefully soon after.
Looking forward to the next update of the achievements app. It’s something I’ve been looking for now for some time but there are no (good) ones for WordPress only. So this is especially exciting for me, as I have no desire to run buddypress (currently at least).
Thanks!
Wonderful. Waiting for the good news.
Bage.
The wait for the BP-independent Achievements update is unbearable!
Thanks for all you do.
I’m just super happy to people are keen for it
Any ETA about BuddyPress-free Achievements plugin?
No, none yet. I’ll spend more time on it once BP 1.5 is out.
Hey Paul,
Just in the middle of setting up a BP site and would love to have achievements integrated into it.
How far away is the new achievements plug in? And can we specify our own events to trigger an achievement?
Hi. Probably 1-2 months away. See http://achievementsapp.com/developer/add-support-for-a-plugin-non-custom-post-type/ how to add custom events.
Your plugin does not work with the new BuddyPress 1.5. Will it be an update to the plugin soon? Otherwise, super good plugin. My students love it!
Well, having issues with achievments on the brand new BP, will you be releasing a Bp1.5 compatible achievments plugin?
hey if we already have achievements installed and don’t want to deactivate should we wait until 2.1 comes out before upgrading to bp 1.5? thanks!
Hi all,
An update for Achievements to make it compatible with BuddyPress 1.5 will be out this next week. If Achievements is critical to your site, I’d recommend waiting to update to BuddyPress 1.5 for now
awesome thanks!
thanks : )
Just checking in to see if you have an ETA for upgrade? Eager to get it. Thanks.
Is Achievements now compatible with BuddyPress 1.5 ? thanks
Yes – v2.1
Awesome! WP only version going to be our Christmas present??? Or have we been naughty this year
Just need to know what would the path be to find out who has how many points, and who completed what achievements…. without visiting every members profile…lol?
There is a widget (“leaderboard”) that comes with the plugin.
Any news on the independant version from what I have seen thus far it still requires buddy press?
3.0 still some time away. It won’t require BuddyPress.
